Okay, I'm almost finished (for now) drilling holes into my car. I have the chrome grab handle and am trying to figure out the best way/place to install it. When I hold it in place, it really doesn't fit perfectly flat and it looks like it COULD overhang the bottom side of my dash a little if I put it where the angled end sits flush with the dash.  And, just when I thought I knew where it went, I saw a car that sold on BaT with it mounted "upside down." Which is correct? It certainly would give the handle more to "bite" as it's a little close for comfort when I hold it to the dash in the manner that I assumed was "correct." Is it worth installing? I like the look but I definitely don't want to install it incorrectly or have a passenger crack my dash by grabbing onto it.

And finally, is there a template for installation?

TIA,

Matt

I'll measure mine tomorrow. It is NOT supposed to be like that BaT car, and is perfectly straight up and down. The BaT car is upside down. Mine didn't come with any rubber or leather gaskets(back in 2002), so I cut some pieces of leather and dyed them black. The bottom one was wedge-shaped to make it sit better. I used fender washers to spread the load on the back side.

The "proper" location is 9" in from the passenger side dash corner.  Don't get too hung up on that measurement, and find the best fit in that general location.  The top pictured handle is upside down as you thought.  Usually the gasket will hide any misfit in angle, but we also mill ours to match the dash better, however this can be tricky because if you get it too hot you can peel the chrome and ruin the handle.  You should have 2 rubbers, one is the forward door handle rubber (Porsche used the same rubber) and the other is a handle specific rubber.
