I have a couple of questions? In your pictures I notice the shifter and pedals on your car. Where did you get them from? I have seen them on a lot of other cars. Also your exhaust looks to be aluminum? Is their an afetrmarket supplier/website. Is the exhaust in the CB catalog?

Tony
The pedals are OMP and I got them on the internet. Do a search and you should find them. Here is a link:

www.omp1.com/pedals.html

The shifter box and nose cone piece are Jamar and they are available at most VW performance shops, VW mail order houses and sand rail shops. The linkage between the shifter box and the nose cone piece is my design; I have a diagram and pictures of it in the FILES section. It works real nice.

The exhaust is the original Beck unit - I had it ceramic coated by Kymco Motorsports for $75. It got rid of all the surface rust and now should live a long time. There are several places that will do this process. This topic was covered on the speedster site and www.spyderclub.com. Check there for sources local to you if you are interested.

Mike
Thanks Mike. I should have checked out the general tech section of the website before I asked the questions. I found some of your responses and, I did see your pics of the linkage. I found the Jamar shifter on a couple sites. I'm going to check out the OMP pedal website. There is no exhaust manufacturer that coats the exhaust system?

Tony
Tony,

In addition to the Jamar shift box, there is a Chinese knockoff (just for the shifter box - not the trans nose gone arrangement)out there for a little less. The quality is adequate but below that of the Jamar.

I think Vintage ceramic coats their exhaust. It looks like a nice one too. If and when my Beck exhaust needs replacing, I will probably go to them. I think it is around $500 though.

You can ceramic coat the one you have and it should last a long time and should cost a lot less (I got mine done for $75). These are custom exhausts, so there are only a couple sources for exhaust (Beck, Vintage and Thunder Ranch) I think.

No problem asking questions Tony - I iwll help you the best I can.

The OMP pedals bolt onto existing pedals. I think they cost around $40 or so for the three piece set. I still have to install the throttle pedal I got with the set. Here is the link that some of us bought from - the model is the 1010 set:

If you are having problems engaging the clutch, you might consider a CNC hydraulic clutch system. It is relatively inexpensive and works great.
