I was wondering why a rear clip for a Beck had to come from Thunder Ranch, I just figured that TR could provide it faster than Beck. So, is it a Thunder Beck or a Beck-o-ranch ? Congrats and thanx V.V. for the wake up. I now watch my rear view and am prepared to get in gear and go at all traffic control devices.Wish you the very best of everything now that your Spydie is fixed and on the road. Zoom, Zoom!!!
I love all this attention! ha
Thanks for all the notes. Having a few minor problems since getting it back--brake lights don't work, headlamp out, etc, so I have to take it back and get them to fix a few things. The emblems still haven't arrived. The worst thing is that they put the slotted fittings for the soft top on backwards! I found that out yesterday when it started raining on me about 30 miles out of town.

Went to see the Skip Barber course outside of B'ham. The show was just for the Lotus club; not a full scale British car show like we thought. But I found my next car at the show. See picture. Also, filled up with racing gas, octane 112. Dave's idea.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and songs. Thanks LJ for not type/singing.

Angela--I'm afraid this car is all I have, summer or winter.

Hi there,
Nice to see the Spyder back on the road!
I was a bit concerned that you felt the need to buy a LOTUS as here in Gt Britain it stands for Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious! I hope yours isn't one of those.
The K series engine has all sorts of 'gremlins' with the cooling systems ( Head gaskets blowing & frying the engine Big Style) so BEWARE!
From a man that knows!

OK

Thanks for the warning! For some reason I thought the Elize had a hopped-up Toyota Celica engine, which as far as I'm concerned, is extremely reliable and long-lasting with very little maintenance. I won't be buying anything any time soon anyway. I WOULD like to just drive one some day! v
Yes you are right the latest versions changed the engine for the 'unburstable' Toyota unit.
Just make sure you have one of those.
You will enjoy the car.
The alternative is the VX220 General Motors (Vauxhall over here!)Same car with different body top.
It looks a little Toyota MR2 in style.
Anyway its nice to see the rear ends recovered! ( Can I say that?) Sorry!
The old jokes are always the best

On page 63 of the October issue of "Road & Track" there is a photo of the 2006 Elise Mk3. Due out in about a year, it is a significantly different styling exercise than the current car...Much more angular and without the "grinning like a jackass eating briars" grill and headlamp treatment. Same engine and transmission apparently. Once again, buy it today and in 10 months it's obsolete.
