Try your local upholstry shop. There is a good American Sq Weave that looks like the German and is more affordable, or should I say,..costs less.

I just fitted a carpet kit from VS in my CMC. It is apparently a marine type carpet that has the loop rather than cutpile fibres.
It went in really well (only needed a couple of minor modifications in the area under the dash) and looks like an authentic squareweave carpet.
I got quotes from a local upholsterers for $60/yd and 42" wide for squareweave carpets. I figured by the time I got it cut and edged as well I'd be spending more than the carpet kit from the manufacturers.
There are some photos of the carpet in my car in my profile .

Hey Jimmy, That's a great looking car you have! Looks like you've done a great job installing the carpet too. Would you mind sharing the cost of the carpet kit so all of us guys that are thinking about doing the carpet thing would know what it's going to cost us? By the way. yor speedster is the same color as mine! What color do you call your carpet? thanks, Mike
Try - www.classicvws.com/carpets.htm. I'm not sure if they have uncut carpet, but it gives you a good idea of the colors available.

The colour is the "oatmeal" carpet that VS sells.
The prices are on the website, although I just looked and the interior carpet is shown as being $400. I certainly didn't pay that much, so I can only guess that they have recently put up the prices. I think I paid somewhere around $250 for the interior and $100 for the trunk carpet.

Also check out Veteranco.com for imported German square weave and autocolorlibrary.com for some colors. Veteran will send samples upon request.
