George:
Try to describe it a little more......does it squeak all the time?
If not, is it quiet at idle and squeaks when you accelerate?
Does it sound like a fan belt squeak or squeel?
It could possibly be either that the fan belt's too loose or too tight (the belt should deflect about 1/2" when pushed horizontally at a point half way between the crankshaft and generator pulleys), or a dry bearing on the generator or alternator which squeaks when you rev the engine (which pulls the belt tighter and stresses the rear generator bearing a bit more).
It could be a slightly leaking intake manifold gasket which can sound like a squeak or sometimes a whistle (does it idle smoothly?), or it could simply be some of the sheetmetal around the engine squeaking as it rubs together, slightly rusted from your humid, salty, Boston air!!
Try this to isolate it: Poke you head around the engine bay as you try to make it squeak (WATCH OUT! for the moving belt and parts!!)and try to see (hear) where the squeak's coming from. If it's the generator/alternator, you may have to get one swapped by VS (They're pretty good about that, I've heard). If you're not mechanically inclined, we can probably help with that at a place just outside of Boston.
If it's squeaking sheetmetal, try pushing on it to see if the squeak stops, then figure out what might need to be done to make that fix permanent - could be as simple as tightening the sheetmetal fasteners.
Poke around, get some more info and report back - we'll help you get that new baby running like a top!
