This 917 was one of the best things I saw last weekend. They had it displayed by itself at the Wynn Resort.
Another amazing car headed to auction is the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner. Auction held February 1, 2025. They believe it will bring over $50mil. Mercedes had this car on display this year in front of the Mercedes pop-up display at Pebble Beach.
When I was a little bitty kid back in the late 1950's, I had a small slot car track and one of the cars that came with it was that Mercedes Streamliner. The other car was a Jaguar XK-120. Both of them looked pretty cool to a 10-year-old.

Bruce Canepa, has a killer shop in Scotts Valley, Ca not far from where I live. He has been known to test drive a 917 on the street by his shop. If you ever get a chance, visit his shop and check out the museum on the second floor. All he does is high end builds and restorations. He also was a factory driver for Porsche and has driven everything from Pikes Peak to Bonneville and a bunch of race cars in-between.

Jim, I have numerous times, so far I still have all my fingers. As a meat cutter my finger are the things I alway watch out for .I would think it more like an arm and a leg, not just fingers. The other hand is on my wallet.
