Someone mentioned (I think it was Jack) using Sta-bil at half an oz per gallon to combat the damaging effects of Ethenol. My google seach turns up two colors (orange/blue) without clarifying the difference between them.

What IS the difference? Which one SHOULD be used? and who has the BEST PRICE?

This pretty black VS is beginning to make a serious dent in my retirement budget...I'll soon be on a rice&bean diet... But she's worth it and such a little beauty that once I work out the steering/suspension problem, and mount the driving lights, I'm entering her in the Black Miss America Pagent!

Michael---good call.

I just spoke with the tech rep at Gold Eagle the maker of Sta-Bil and she said that the marine formula could indeed be used in an automobile engine.

The marine formula is the blue one and is more concentrated than the red Sta-Bil Ethanol treatment because of the wet environment where boats are usually found.

I have been using the red formula which is labeled at 1 oz. for 2.5 gallons. Being more concentrated, the blue formula's label says 1 oz. for 8 gallons so using the blue one provides a great savings over the red.

So for 8 gallons it's 1 oz, 6 gal= 3/4 oz, 4 gal= 1/2oz and 2 gal=1/4 oz. (Where's Kelly when I need him!?)

The plastic bottle is self measuring making it simple to pour after fueling.

I got mine at Walmart too. Nice savings in the fight against that damned ethanol.
I don't think the original Sta-Bil, red, does much about ethanol.

There is also Ethanol Treatment and Marine Formula.

I just started using Marine Formula which the maker says is the "BEST Ethanol Blended Fuel Enhancer!"

I think I got it from Walmart. If you want a bigger bottle you might try some place like Tractor Supply.

You can read about the different Sta-Bil versions at the maker's website:

Here is some information about ethanol in fuel:

i have used the stuff some. im not saying its bad but ive had better luck with a cup of acetone in the fuel at spring startup or even better i put a gallon of cam 2 race fuel in the car over the winter.

i might try the marine formula..

We do the same thing on our backup generator i had problems with sta-bil gumming up the fuel bowel on the generator Do not intend to use it any more.
