If you are going to clean your chassis use a degreaser and medium pressure water( garden hose). A soft plastic scrub brush will also help. High pressure and high temps will remove your original protective coating. Most chassis coatings have low temp and low/meduim impact resistant properties. The coating is your primary protection against corrosion. Once you have cleaned the chassis touch up any of the damaged coating. If you find any rust scale ,use a scraper and wire brush to remove the loose stuff. Then coat the area with rust inhibitor such as POR or permatex. The inhibitors will seal the the area not allowing oxygen nor water to start the corrosion process. Remember to clean out any ports/ opening that would allow water to be trapped in the chassis.
