Richard,

You always just unbolt the column from the body, let it drop a bit, pull the blinker housing and cut away the key plinth. Fill the hole in the side of the housing, sand, and paint like I did with this one:

I drilled a few holes around it for more of a "race ready" look, but you could keep yours smooth and "stock" looking. This way you can get a nice "look" and also keep your blinker, steering wheel, and directional wiring intact. Move the ignition wiring out the housing and to the dash. Drill a hole in the dash for the key switch surround to poke through, fashion a small bracket and you can even use your original key switch.

Maybe?
I am very partial to the 67 bus column parts, when doing away with the key switch. they are close enough to pass as 57 (P)parts. But a earlier bug column 51 threw 66 is bigger around and longer.

If you have a working column in the car . I have been thinking it might be possible to remove the switch housing. and make 2 half moon plates that will let you put the 67 bus turn switch right on a later model. The bus switch fits the newer size column .

But due to the key lock slot that's left when the lock housing is removed. 2 half moons or even a thin slip over collar could be made and all the hard stuff like I went threw can be avoided.

Even if you had a direct fit66 column you would still have to die grind the hole a smiggin on the 67 bus switch.

I have been thunkin on this a while. as a kit that the speedster club needs.

You still have to have the Nardi wheel stuff. but this could fix the column.
