Car drives OK. At first thought I must have hit a pot hole or something. So I took the discs out and checked the bearings and repacked with new grease after cleaning most of the old grease out. Drivers side adjusted the bearing properly and moved to the passenger side.

Put my hand at 12 and 6 and tried to see movement and noticed there is play in the top ball joint.

Question.

1- Would it be easier to take the top arm off the beam and bring it to an alignment shop to press a new one in?

I will order the European ball joint from CIP

Mike:

Yup - drop the knuckle off of the upper ball joint, remove the upper trailing arm and take it to a machinist to have them press out the old and press in the new - far less potential damage to the arm than trying to remove it yourself with a BFH.

I have never replaced an upper ball joint and not had to get it re-aligned. Just life, I guess.....

good luck....gn
I hear yeah Brian, thanks. I ordered the new ball joint(s) bought the other side as well. There is a great little garage here that specializes in alignment and exhaust I will give them a try.

Needed to order $50.00 to get FREE shipping otherwise the UPS charge for a $21.00 ball joint was $22.00.

Sphincter say what?

CIP won't do free shipping to me and they won't mail anything either, only UPS air which costs a lot. I'll be happy when I move south to the land of decent shipping. I had a gas on-demand hot water heater and install kit shipped via bus from Ontario recently. Bus is the only way to go for bulky, heavy stuff. Took 6 calendar days to get here and was $160 in shipping versus about $320 for UPS.
