I need a steering wheel! I was looking into a Nardi wheel and have tried unsuccessfully so far to get a response from them. I have tried phone calls and e-mail without any luck. Right now I have a steering column with an 18mm thread on the end. Do I need a special adapter for this set up?

Bob,
Nardis are pretty easy to come by. Most of the builders keep them in stock. Call Carey at Spec Edition, Kirk at Vintage or John at JPS, or Tom at TR for that matter. As far as the adapter goes; Yes, you'll more than likely need one. Do you know what year column was used in your build? I'm not sure what 18mm equates to in regard to adapter size. Most vendors will use model years as opposed to size. That said I'm sure there's someone on here that can help you more.
If you want something different and custom made to your specs, give Mike Lempert a call. Check out www.lempertwheels.com for contact info. He's made several custom Speedster wheels including mine. You can pick the wood, the style, etc. Mine is a Les Leston style with dropped spokes for visibility. The wood is sapele mahogany with aluminum rivets to match the door tops I made. His prices are surprisingly reasonable - if you don't go hog wild with rare woods, custom in-lays, and unusual metalworking. You will still need to find a Nardi adapter and horn button, though. The last picture is Mike working on mine. He actually let me help, which was fun.

Thanks for the info! I guess I will start with TR first then go to the next possibles. I am not sure what the steering column came from so I am zero help there. I think possibly a bus but I am not sure. My donor car was a Ghia but this is not from that car. I had not thought about other makers of wheels but I guess that sure could be a possibility. I plan on using Black Walnut on my door panels and dash so it could be nice to incorporate Walnut in the wheel as well. Thanks again for the asistance and advice. Much appreciated.
