I have decided to go with a bigger steering wheel. The one that came with my car is just a bit too small, cuts off the view of my speedo, and makes the car a little too hard to steer when parking. I like that Derrington. Any other suggestions of wheels that don't cost a fortune would be appreciated. These are the wheels I've tried so far. Bruce

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce,
Afterlooking at all the photo's and comments on SOME of the steering wheels...14', 15 ", riveted , non riveted' , Nardi, Derrington, Grant, real Porsche. Fake, Wood, type of wood, 3 spoke, 4 spoke, spoke angles. stainless steel, aluminum, roller chain, chain, chromed, brass plate, solid, nickle plated, Gold Plated, Holes, slots, tapered slots, I just get confused with why ! When I get in my car I might look at my steering wheel and admire it for a little while, while I'm waiting for the CHT to get to 200F and sometimes when the glint of sunlight flashes off of it on a turn up in the mountains. Otherwise I'm pretty much hanging onto it to stay safe in a very narrow zone to be able to enjoy another day. I guess I'm just missing some important point about the finesse or esoteric's of steering wheels.....Bruce
Cough....cough.....clear my throat......I hate when that happens. LOL
All kidding aside Bruce, what size is that wheel? The second wheel, not the brass one. IIRC it might only be a 14" wheel. The setup I went with which is the same setup Rusty went with was $378 all in. The 15" Derrington was just over $110, the horn from Sierra Madre was $178 and the hub from eBay was about $40. I can send you the links if need be.
I'm not a tall man by any standards and I think I could have even went with the 16" but the 15" has been real nice. Turning is easier and the wheel is a lot slimmer in diameter which I like. It felt weird at first but after a long day of driving I got used to it.
I now have a Mike Lempert 16" Derrington on mine.
I believe mine (also from Mike Lempert) is s 15". The 16" would hit my legs, I think. Mike can build you just about anything you want for a reasonable price. You choose style, wood, finish, etc.
Lempert 15.25. VDM design. Artisnal virgin walnut w/left handed grain. Gluten free authentic hand laid ebony inlay.
Flat face. Satin spokes. 1 calorie.
Cough- Cough- Cough....I eat my words Robert. BUT then I was just joking and thought the door knob would be funny !....I think my wheel is a little less than 14 ".15.5 or 16 should do OK on the next one. Rusty.....Are you happy with yours ? Also Rusty...who might you be looking at to buy a 550 Spyder....maybe we could double up to buy two ?.......Need the info on where to buy the Derrington. I actually like the "Banjo Wheel' better but all of them I've seen are just too flimsy and that's scary to me.
My "Door Knob" wheel was perfect in all ways except parking Ha ha !!!!!..........Bruce

I couldn't resist Bruce. And the door knob was funny. I liked that it had a built in lock feature.
Here's the wheel, hub, and horn I bought:
Horn:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331921...e=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Adapter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121246...e=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Horn Button:

Pretty straightforward swap. Remove the old wheel, attach the adapter to your current hub, very slightly bend the corners of the horn button where the small square cutouts are, attach the orange wire from the steering shaft to the post on the back of the horn, and gently press the horn into place.

Huge improvement there Robert!
