What brand is the cheesy wheel? If it isn't marked try posting a photo of the hub and some measurements, maybe something nice will bolt right on. I got a headache trying to figure out what I needed to adapt a Nardi to my column; just swapped my '80s LeCarra for a nice wood '60s one.
Ed,
You have to figure out what steering column you have in your car. I have an IM built in the early 80's and I ended up having to count the splines on the column to make sure I got the correct adapter. You never know what year steering column was used, it may not be the same year as the donor VW chassis. Depending on what you're looking for you can try Flat 4 or a Nardi, I have a Grant with a billet aluminum adapter on mine and I like the way it looks. I had a Banjo and it was too thin and too big. I'm a little guy (5'10" 155lbs) and I had to manuver out of the car with the banjo in it, I ended up getting a 13" Grant that looks kinda like a Nardi.
