Gerry,
You asked a question about that particular housing. I don't think you'll find that one at Pep Boys or Wal-Mart. You might check with Intermeccanica. That one belongs to a member's IM Speedster being built now. His name is Brooks. When you go to that picture file you can access his e-mail. I'll bet he would share something about that housing, as he has seen it up close recently and will again in a few days.
The IM Crew uses their own mold for the housing and it is made to fit under a speedster or roadster dash with a good fit. When they are painted, the body shop fills and sands the housing for a painted finish to match the dash. IM will also cover that pod with matching material from the doors/dash.
IM also modifies or builds pods for particular applications, such as older radios with a bigger housing.
For a another picture of an installed housing look at Bill Steele's pictures of his Roadster interior.
I think you could adapt a universal housing to your Speedster, and do somthing like Gordon mentioned. I had one on my VS and used it to house the radio, the alarm light, and an Acc plug outlet. The housing came with the VS and looked very nice. Taking from what IM does, you could use some primer filler and sand it to get a smooth finish, and then shoot a matching color. I think it would look pretty custom. Gordon has a good idea there.
Anyway, you asked about that pod and I thought you would like some information on it.
