Got away around 10 this morning clear weather all the way till South Pa. Holed up tonight in Greencastle on I 81. Looking at foul weather the next two days. Rain x works, so does the green tape. The car is running strong.

where are you headed?
David,
Keep your eye on weather reports. There 's some nasty stuff moving across the southern states, not sure when it will be where you will be.
Yeah, that's why I took off from home a couple of days early, Jack. I'm headed down I 81, tomorrow over to Fredeicksburg, Va to I 95 down to Florida to meet my Wife in Daytona, tool around for a week then back up to the show at Carlisle.
Greencastle you were 15 min from my house in Chambersburg!
David---join our Southern caravan. We start out near Knoxville then overnight in Christiansburg then on to Carlisle. Group dinner in KX and C'burg with a lunch in Bristol. Lots of fun and safety in numbers. I know you havent forgotten that time on I-95 when it was good to have some support or the rtime in C'burg when Lane helped you install an accelerator cable at the Holiday Inn Express! Join us!
If you decide to drive through or stop over in Beaufort, SC, (Yemessee exit off of I-95 then rt 21 south) call me 508-241-8848 and I'll put you in touch with my old car club there. Just seeing the club's "Man Cave" with it's four lifts and machine shop is worth a side trip and the club members are a great bunch of people.

David, safe and dry journey!
It has been well-documented that the green tape is useless, only blue will suffice LOL!
See you on your way back up in a couple of weeks!
Remember if you need some tools, a place to clean up your car, etc...I am on the way right off 95..just let me know. I work from home so am around all the time.
David
Just north of Fredericksburg Va of I-95 if you get in a jam - give a call
Dale
Very cool. I love an adventure. Used to take off on my Ducati ST4 with no destination other than the road. God Speed.
Thank you all for your comments...very much appreciated. A big pary of my MO is to get as far as you can safely withlittle for a schedule. I slogged thru hard today and write this from Dunn, NC.
The car still strong but I set a new personal low for getting wet. I'now drying out my socks and even the boxers along with every thing else. The engine got swamped in a big puddle around 4pm and wentdown to three cyls. Found a small repair shop and they blew everything dry and sealed all cyls with dielectric grease. Should have done that at home. They had tornado warnings here and I drove around the countrysidelooking for the shop in the boonies, in and out of the car looking for directions. Good lads they are.
We'll see what tomorrow brings...gotta get and get some grub. Later...
Safe travels my friend. God speed!
Godspeed, good sir. Or dog speed. They're pretty fast too.
David- If keeping warm is an issue- the "Hot Pockets" glove warmers are great at keeping your core warm (stuff one in each pants pocket); we use them when the weather turns ugly dune buggying in the mountains.
Travel warmth - FWIW, if you don't have a 12-volt power outlet, install one! Then you can not only charge your cell phone, but you can also plug in one of these to keep you or passenger (or both) nice & toasty... works for us!

What Jim said X2. We have the stylish Red/Black Plaid ones from Menards.
Don't need it anymore because we real heat and heated seats
I assume that the closest you'll come to Charleston is the I-95/I-26 interchange, but if I'm wrong I'd love to meet y'all for lunch or something, if time permits.
iPad broke or got wet and broke?
I pad recovered. Not wet...just stupid fingers run by you know who.
Laner, sure would like to doit but must barrel thru the weather. Thanks though.
Made it down to Flagler Beach, Fl . Without rain. Got the room, 2margs and a burrito, straight back to the room and instant thunderstorm . And it is now PISSING rain.Turned the 50,000 mile mark on the car in Georgia today, minus the 8,500 it came with.
timing is everything.
good on ya, Dave!
Excellent timing, Dave!
David,
I'm trying to send an email to you but it is bouncing. Is your correct email address
dstroud at xplornet dot net?
Argggg, sorry Bruce. Changed it recently slightly to
dwstroud at xplornet.com
David,
You are my role model. Hittin' the big open road, with your sweetie by your side, no set plan, make what you can out of the day, go w/ the the flow -- all sounds pretty fine to me. Are we going to see you at the Cracker Barrel off of I81 a little east of Hagerstown at 1:00 thurs?? We (Cory and I) plan to meet Lane and Co. at that place at that time, eat lunch, then Barrel on in to Carlisle environs. be there, or be square . . .
David, I see your email is via xplornet. Do you get your internet through them too?
Just curious, as we're up on the side of a mountain, with internet through an internet hub (Telus) and it's expensive.
