LQQK at this one if you are a potential buyer...

Not mine but was mine, a few summers ago....

This speedster IMHO is the nicest one I've owned. It started out as a stock IM and had the unique suttle one of a kind flares added.
The body and paint are absolute show quality and the street rod graphite gray leather interior, very custom top and hard quarter tonneau was valued at ten grand when done by Mike Haverstock ( also the car builder) in Chambersburg, PA.

Again not mine but because it's such a unique high end car I highly recommend this speedster !

It is not a great time to be selling a nice car. I went to the local hot rod shine and show yesterday. There are about 300 cars that show up each week, just for the fun of it. There were at least 20-30 cars for sale, most of them VERY nice. A guess on my part, but that guess is most of the cars could be bought today for 30-50% of the cost of their build, with a lot of free labor not even in the equation. Example, a 3 year old 427 (428) Cobra, very nicely done up, looks professional in all respects including suspension, underbody, interior, engine, paint----less than 2500 miles, $24,000 asking. Another sitting beside it was $38,000....no real apparent difference other than asking price. And no buyers or even serious lookers at either price. To buy either of them new factory turn key would cost in the $75k neighborhood, or more....

I also notice that many of the people wandering around looking at cars are on the wrong side of 40-50-60....not a lot of "new blood" in the game....I notice the same on BJ and Mecum auto auctions...a lot of us older generation represented.....too much so for the health of hot rods/Speedsters, Spyders etc.....

A LOT of the hotrods and customs these days seem to have the "old lady knitting in the passenger seat" option. It took a while to figure out that the Old Farts needed their wives on board to drive the car home for them. Night blindness among elderly men can be a bitch.
30 years old. Just bought my second (project) speedster after selling a coupe. My first speedster was my favorite car I've had. One of the guys I work with has a speedster as well. It is alive and well with the (younger) crowd. Sometime when you are 20, 30 or however old justifying a second, third or fourth car doesn't make sense.
Alan:

I have shoes older than 30.

I also have twin 9 year old boys I am anxious to get involved in the love of cars. Expect to take delivery of my first speedster in the next couple weeks. My boys can't wait, and I'm in the same boat with them. Wife is apprehensive, but coming around after I took the lead from someone on the site who suggested that these are like motorcycles with two seats and a body. She likes bikes and that got her into a more favorable frame of mind.
WHAT A STEAL !
Take my word on this.... Should you be in search of your first speedster and or looking for a street rod styled speedster, this is this the bomb!
This is one of the nicest custom speedsters I have seen to date both in the cosmetics and mechanical end of things. An IM with suttle flares added. Very high end custom leather interior with a unique one off custom low bowed street rod top and tonneau, it's now down to $15k and the seller probably will talk. I can't say enough about this speedster. Just beautiful in and out and ... flawless ! Not mine but did own it a few years ago. ~Alan
