Cummon' Bob-- don't you see how much more desireable that makes those wheels? The extra 1/4" of Aluminum makes them worth 2x a more plebeian Fuch.

I was reading about Mimetic Theory last night. The gist of it is that humans desire some things simply because other people want them, and for no other reason.

I think it might apply here.

The tale of 'The Emperor's Clothing' comes to mind!

I was doing a little research on Reutter luggage racks and came across a thread on PCA forum. Big to-do about period correctness of Reutter and Lietz! Seems that everybody wanted to prove they were the smartest guy in the room. What a shock!

Stan: in your world back in the Torker-intake-&-Cherrybomb-on-yer-Chevelle days, the analogue would be camel-hump "fuelie" heads. Or maybe the argument about the differences between the 461, 462 and 461x casting numbers.

Many Saturdays were spent wandering around salvage yards, looking at casting numbers, and hoping to score a pair of double hump 2.02's.

Glory days.

When I bought the car it had a cool center exhaust with an oval tip. I loved the sound of that setup. One of the reservations that I had about going suby was the sound. My neighbor has a son who's a subaru tuner guy and I hate the way his car sounds. Carey and I mulled the decision over and opted to something very similar to Joe Fortino's twin tips. I am trusting Carey on this one. Tom, what do you have?

Joe's does, indeed, sound really cool.  Suby's really sound nice if you don't let them get too loud.  They have this gorgeous rumble right up through mid-range if you run quieter mufflers.  If they're louder they have this terrific roar right up through mid-range, but it just stays with you at cruising speed, slowly turning you deaf.  Kinda like my Berg mufflers - They sound great, but just that much too loud.  This may be the year I figure out a quieter full-flow exhaust for my car.   Maybe then my wife will ride with me more

Here's my set up. The headers route forward and then loop back into twin glass packs with augers inserted to cut down the noise. The dump into the existing funneled which route the exhaust through the bumper risers.

I love the sound. I had an A1 sidewinder before. This is quieter at idle & cruise, but still growls on acceleration. I think it's the perfect combination.

Car arrived in Iowa at close to 1AM Sunday morning. First of all, I am absolutely amazed! The amount of power, responsiveness, and glorious sound can not be accurately described. I've put on only 25 miles and it has been the most fun on 4 wheels that I have had. In the morning we took it to a local fundraiser car show. I've snapped a few photos before I had to run over to the office. (We had a bunch of stuff going on yesterday that prevented us from spending too much time on the road.)  My kids can't wait for me to get home from work today. Can't thank Carey enough! A more thorough review and pics to follow...
