SUBYTUB departure in doubt

It breaks my heart to inform my SOC brothers/sisters that unless Steve is able to perform a miracle that John, Sarah and the Subytub will not be able to make it to Carlisle. Confirmation will be in a few hours, but stated briefly, final test drives revealed a glitch in the engine's performance which was totally unexpected; the diagnostic process is in full swing. I am beginning to feel like the kid who did not get a date for the prom. %&*()_()&^%$$^&&*&%%$$! There, I said it.

Dang John, I hate to hear that! Wish you could come anyway in another vehicle.

It's not going to happen, at least this year. We ran out of time. I feel badly about it, but hope springs eternal. Next year will be great. It will even be sunny! Delivery of the finished car is now projected for early next week.

You will be missed I'm sure! I'd like to try to get with you later (after your bugs are worked out, and hopefully I wont' have any new bugs), somewhere in our home turf for a backroad jaunt.

Bummer. And I am certain Steve is ultra-disappointed as well, would have been great exposure. But better to play it safe than be stranded.

I agree, maybe the builder could loan you his truck and trailer? Just think about all the things you could stuff in there.

Thanks guys. Steve did his level best to get the Subytub ready, but the problem meant he had to divide the time between diagnosing and repairing the glitch and the various cosmetic details which were not finished. Either one by itself would have been possible, but not both. I visited him today briefly and the car is looking great. New pictures will be posted on his website soon, plus the ones I will be taking after delivery for the photos page. It has a sound like I couldn't believe!
Have fun folks. I'll be there next year, honest. Being an old fart, I know how fast a year passes. Good luck to Jerome. I hope he "plays" on key.

Any chance of you jumping in your regular car and driving up here tomorrow? 90 degrees and sunny Saturday. You can still use your registration, just tell them your car had problems and they'll check you in just like you had the Subytub.

Bruce, it's tempting but I've already cancelled my motel reservation, turned the mail and newspaper back on, cancelled the doggie motel reservation and worked through the disappointment of not being able to join you guys in PA. Also, I want to stick close to the phone in case the "factory" calls and wants me to stop by again for a visit.
