Suddenly, Racing becomes personal

Many of you may remember that my son, Chris, along with his friend Scott, and I worked the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 2012 as spotters for TRG Motorsports. Chris and I spotted for the #67 TRG Porsche which came in second in GT, while Scott spotted for the #66 TRG Porsche. One of Scott's drivers at last year's Rolex was Alan Simonson, who lost his life in a crash at LeMans last weekend. I just equated the two today when Chris and I were talking about the Rolex race at Watkins Glen this weekend. We had lunch in the team food tent with Alan - he was a terrific guy and a great driver. We're all in a bit of shock after learning this.
