Hey thinking of firming up the rear end on my Vintage Speedster. Any suggestions and cost? Thanks

KYB Gas Adjusts, or:
Bilstein or:
Koni
x2 on the gas-adjusts BUT: bump-stops first.
Personally, I'd stay away from a gas shock. The ones I've had ride like crap. I've got Konis on my IM and I like them a lot. I have mine set on soft in the front and hard in the back. Very nice.

p.s. Soft and hard....waiting for comments from Gerd and Vinnie. This could get nasty. Not that I'm saying that Gerd is soft and Vinnie is hard......
Word on the streets is Gas Adjusts are too stiff for these cars. I like my KYB GR2s.
I like my Konis. The KYB's were a little too mushy for me.
What model number? And where do I buy? Thanks
Here is a sneeky you need to remember .. What ever brand you get... order them heavy duty for the type 3 wagon and they will be a stronger verson... works good on a bug tooo.
I use air shocks, Monroe's. They'll run about $50-$60 for a pair. They can raise your car a bit, like an inch or so and you can make them softer or harder depending on the amount of air you put in. Not too expensive so might be worth a try.
What is the number for the Monroe air shocks for the front?
Hey gang, I contacted Vintage Speedsters and this is the reply to lift the rear a bit:
I have these adjusters on my car and they sure make life easier! When you use them do NOT judge the levelness of the rear of the car by the amount of rear tire you can see under each fender ---measure from toe torsion bar down to the ground on each side---make each side the same using the adjuster.
I think it was Alan Merklin who said that 3-4" of tire should be visible under each rear fender---but still measure by the torsion bar even if each side is a little different.
Hey gang, I contacted Vintage Speedsters and this is the reply to lift the rear a bit:
Just look for the extra bolt and block welded into the middle of the spring plate:
If it's just a flat piece of metal from the torsion bar all the way to the axle, then they're non-adjustable.
Yelp i made my own from old junk parts A must have on these
