Sunbrella for soft top

Sitting here on my boat looking at the left over Sunbrella fabric that I imported at great cost and thinking that it would be a great material for a sort top.

UV tolerant, waterproof, long lasting, and in a variety of colours. The top material available here is shite, so why not?
May as well use marine plastic rear window while I am at it!!

I tried sunbrella for top material and it just doesn't have the same stretch of actual automotive top material. We still use it for tonneau covers and top boots (for the very reasons you mentioned), but not for tops themselves...

Softops on other 2 seater cars i.e. MBenz SL model and Triumph TR6 have corner windows in addition to large rear window panel. UNBELIEVABLY brite and betta visibility compared to stingy lil P.car panel.

I might try puttin some in the speedytop this season. Anyone tried this ??

I HATE the speedytop . Only a little less claustrophobic than a coffin !

Sunbrella doesn't seem as thick - Haartz cloth actually has layer of canvas and rubber bonded. I'd think seams would rip out of Sunbrella when doing much over 50 MPH. Suspect dune buggy guys use it for biminis but then rest of car is open for air to escape and not billow the top.

Where to buy Hartz cloth?

Any auto upholstery shop .....

Look for Twillfast (also called Sonnendeck) or Haartz Stayfast. It does have 2 a's. Or buy a complete one from VS -- especially if you don't have header piece and top rods.

I am in thailand so impossible to find here and must be imported.
Where to buy sufficent for 3 cars?

I do not want to buy 3 complete tops for obvious cost and duty reasons
