Gerd -

We will be gathering this Sunday morning in front of Brea Fire Station #3 which is located at the intersection of Lambert Rd & Kraemer Blvd in Brea. The address of that station is 400 North Kraemer Blvd, Brea 92823.

This Carbon Canyon cruise is a relatively short course (approx 15 miles) ending at a small municipal airport cafe (a greasy spoon called Flo's at Chino Airport). Actual drive time to cover the entire road course is probably less than 45 minutes. I thought it only fair to let you know this particularly knowing the distance you'd have to drive to get here (from the Valley?).

It would be great if you joined us for this short ride - if not, then maybe we'll organize another day trip (before the Paso convoy in April) starting somewhere in Malibu!

Peace - Out!
As always, I enjoyed the great comraderie of my SOC friends at this morning's canyon cruise and greasy spoon breakfast! We welcomed newcomer Roy (Naples Island, SoCal) with his beautiful Pewter painted Speedster - welcome to the Madness, Roy!

The next time we plan on ending near Chino Airport, I will try to bribe my neighbor (Planes of Fame Museum Director) into letting us take pics of our cars in the hangar with the WWII fighter planes.

Tom, I thought you & Candace would have taken the back route into Orange (Imperial/Canon to Katella) like I did.

Hope everyone had a good time this morning and had a safe trip home to enjoy the game.

Peace - Out!

Jim - does that museum still have the aluminum-finished Beech 18? I flew in that thing in 1996 to get photos of the B-17 Sentimental Journey and a DC-3 over downtown San Diego.
I'll zap an electronic copy of that photo, if I can find it. I ran it on the front page of Navy Compass to advertise the Wings Over Gillespie (sp?) airshow that year.
Love that Beech. I helped the pilot sink about 40 replacement rivets into it after we landed. He said pop rivets departing the fueslage were probably what brought about Amelia Earhart's demise.
So, we didn't get to go with you guys this time, but decided on our own to drive down the Coast for breakfast. We cruised on 101 all the way and decided to cruise thru Rancho Santa Fe and having breakfast there at my favorite French Bakery outsite by this beautiful fountain. As we are cruising listening to Michael Bubble tunes, the sun warming our cold bodies, and the curvy roads ...Oh , what a day!!!! Forgot to mention, we had 3 very nice expensive Porsches pulled along beside us to tell us what a beautiful car this was, so we just took it all in....

Sounds like you guys had a fun day too... ~Esther
Esther / Vince - Glad to hear you folks didn't stay couped up this weekend and took advantage of the great weather in your Speedy's!

David - who's that 'gansta' wearing the Element knit cap & Black Flys shades driving the silver Speedster? I bet he gets pulled over by the cops A LOT!!

Cory - I'm not sure if they have that particular Beech aircraft but here's a link to their inventory and also pics of the planes in the air during their last airshow.

My neighbor is one of the museum Directors and is currently restoring the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly - I'm hopin for a ride when it's done!
