I cannot find a IRS beetle donor but have found a Super Beetle.

I am not using the McPherson strut suspension and building an independent A-arm system with rack and pinion on my own tube chassis.
The only chassis part that interests me is the torsion tube back c/w VIN number and I am even cutting this to fit a 915 gearbox, running coil overs, and 944 trailing arms. Torsion tube forward will be fabricated based on Rorty Design I posted earlier.

Is the rear of the Super beetle the same as an IRS Beetle?

Is the fuel tank the same?
if not presumably I can buy a Beetle tank

Any other considerations using a Super.

Thanks
Robert

I saw the reference to the Super conversion kit for the CMC but was not sure what it entailed. If a beam mount is does not apply to me as I am fabricating my own A-arm chassis with rack and pinion steering anyway.

will check out the bigger gas tank.
Is this a drop in for the CMC?

Sounds like I can use the Super back half if I get a new tank.
Correct?
Robert, you are going to have to adapt whatever tank you use anyway.
Aren't you going fuel injected? Get a new "long distance" tank. The extra fuel will help in your balance. The neck will have to be shortened to clear the hood. Just thought of something. With your control arm frame design the long distance tank may not fit. The extra capacity tank hangs lower. Get dimensions first before purchase.
