support bolts

does any one know how to get at the bolthead on the floor, where the front support will attach. i am trying to put in the front beam supports, the nuts on the bottom are nyloc so the bolt just spins. thanks bill.

On my CMC the bolt heads are recessed in a short vertical steel tube. You can put a socket on an extension over the bolt head. I duct taped the ratchet handle in place to hold it when I was under the car turning the nut.

...then i had her help hold the ratchet, while i tightened the bolts.

still cannot find in the car, mine is a vintage, could they be in that pad between the body nd the frame, and if so hod do you get to it. thanks bill

if its a VS call them...ask for horace..he is a mechanic there and is very helpful and knows everything about the VS mechanically.

This should help you find the bolt location you're looking for.
This photo has about the same config. as the VW pan.w/Speedster & Subframe mounted.
The square tubes in the front of this subframe (see Photo) are where the two bolts on each side are used to attach to the VW pan.
In the photo the short ones that show the most rust are the ones you're looking at.
You'll probably have to peel the carpet back inside under the dash near the firewall to find them on your Speedster.

William, are you talking about the empi bottom beam braces which connect the pan to the front beam?, if so the two bolts either side are accessed by lifting the carpet/sound deadener in the footwells and in the corner the box section is open on top with the right socket and extension access is available but you will need some assistance to hold the ratchet.
