Hola Everyone who wishes to read this.
I bought my Speedster from VS last year. (basically a roller). It was an IRS/ball joint rear/frnt. assembly. i asked for frnt./rear sway bars. A year later, after doing a few radical right/left maneuvers I felt like the front suspension wasn't lifting back to level enough. This prompted me to take a closer look at the front sway bar. I thought maybe it wasn't stout enough for what I was trying to do on the street. Upon further investigation I realized that the sway bar was installed upside down and wrong, right-to-left. it actually hung down nearly two inches lower than the lower torsion bar tube. it just didn't look right and looked like the bends in the actual bar were incongruous with how it was mounted. So what I did was flip the bar over, (right to left) and re-installed it. It's actually an easy job ! Now the bar is up above the lower torsion bar tube and in a suitable position to do some work. The actual bends in the sway bar are more compatible with all the subtleties of the bends in the trailing arms. i got to thinking....why would VS install this bar "upside-down"/ Well, i found out. I took my car out for a drive and every bump in the road made the sway bar hit the steel brackets that support the front bumper causing a lot of banging noise. What I did was installed s two rubber hose pieces around the lower part of the bumper supports directly above where the sway bar hits them. Quiet again. BUT.... the proper remedy would be to angle the lower bumper support stantion up at an angle to allow clearance in the area where the sway bar is located.
My guess is that VS doesn't always have to install sway bars on every one of their "builds' so the easy way and the cheapest way out for them is to install the sway bar "upside-down" when they're asked to install one. This saves them the expensive time of production changes/modifications.
The end result is that my car now does much better in severe turns now that the bar is set up like it's supposed to be.
This Post is not to point fingers. It's merely meant to provide more info to all of us. Discovery is a beautiful thing !....Bruce
