I've used the OSRAM Silver Star and longer lasting Ultra Star H4 headlight bulbs for years.  They do put out better light than sealed beam bulbs but appears Sylvania just made statement without empirical proof.  Lawyers have negotiated a $30M settlement for false advertising.  I'm sure lawyers will get the bulk of the settlement.  The Silver Stars seem to last 13 months - the Ultras 24 months.  Although I've gotten several rebates for purchase I haven't received a post card from Sylvania.  Use the link to be part of the settlement.

I've owned my Ford Ranger for 14 years and have only had one headlight bulb failure, six months after installing a set of Silver Stars.  I put the original bulbs back in and they're still working fine (remember, up in Canada our headlights are on whenever the engine is on and the emergency brake is off).

Bernie....  There are time slots on some TV channels that are sponsored by a multitude of law firms running back to back ads for everything from asbestos exposure to auto accidents to knee joint replacement, to good old fashioned ambulance chasing....   You can watch up to eight back to back ads by different firms in as little as four minutes...  Its positively asinine.
