Things are coming together - Precision Alloy case with .100' cam drop, shipped; LN Eng. biral cylinders, shipping next week; high-compression swirl pistons, Schubeck composite lifters, and Scat ultra-light flanged 86mm stroker crank and flywheel all here; 181 ("Thing") doghouse fan shroud, shipping in a few days; Crower titanium con rods, in process; NOS Dellorto 48 DRLA carbs, here; Mallory distributor with Pertronix II and Bosch "red" coil, here; .100" drop Magnum straight cut steel cam drive gearset, here; etc. I plan to fly out to California for final engine assembly and dyno testing at CB Performance, then the engine will be shipped to IM for installation in the Speedster.
It's a lot of fun planning and getting stuff together for a new engine but it can also try your patience when availability is nil, delivery slow, or lead time jeopardizes the project. It is also expensive when you pull out all the stops.
In retrospect I probably should have been more conservative but you only live once, you can't take money it with you, and my daughters (doctor and lawyer) don't need it.
