Tach Problem and engine spits and sputters.

May car is having an intermittent running problem. It will spit and supper then stop. I can restart it after is sits for five minutes. I can find no lose wires or connections. The tachometer starts acting up before the engine sputters. I have an electronic distributor, no points.But get this...when I turn the lights on, the tach goes to zero.
