I recently installed a Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition in my Speedster.  The Tach. under read by 800rpm at idle.

The engine runs just fine.  Pertronix advised to install a capacitor and gave me the correct specs.  The capacitor had no effect.  I put the points and condenser back in and the Tach reads correctly.  The coil has 3.0+ ohms resistance.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I have had to use a tach adapter similar to the Victory one above on a couple of cars when using Sun aftermarket tachs and electronic ignition to get them to read correctly, they either read way low or way high. Don't understand why electronic ignition, even when using like Mallory or MSD complete systems, affects some brands of tachs like some models of the Sun and not others, Auto-Meter and Moon do not seem to be affected... I'm not "techy" enough to understand, but the adapter allows them to read correctly and are easy to install.

Just another piece of electronic crap that can fail...sheesh!
