My tachometer started going nutty after 6 years and 13000 miles so I've decided to send it off to N. Hollywood Speedo to be fixed.  When I disconnect the orange coil signal wire at the tach (the "1" terminal), the horn sounds whenever I turn the key in the ignition.  It stops when I reconnect the coil signal to the tachometer.  Does anyone know why this might be and how to stop the horn so I could drive the car while waiting to get the tachometer back?

Another thing I didn't expect was that the signal wire branches into two wires at the tach input.  Why would that be?

I figured since I was disconnecting the horn that I might as well add dual horns behind the horn grills - something I've been planning on doing for awhile.  I'm putting in a relay to trigger the new horns.

My problem is that I know little to nothing about wiring and the stock horn has two wires that are both the same color.  Does it matter which one of the stock horn wires goes to relay terminal 85 and which one goes to terminal 86?

One of the existing horn wires should be a switched +12V. The other wire goes to the column and gets grounded when you press the horn button. You'll need to test with a voltmeter to find out which.

Connect the old +12V wire to terminal 86. Connect 85 to the old wire to the column. Connect a new switched +12V horn power wire to terminal 30. Connect terminal 87 with a new wire to one terminal on the horn. Connect the other terminal on the horn with a new wire to ground.
