Okay, here's the plan:

As I mentioned in the previous thread, there are multiple drop in points on this drive. Also, there are several gas stations along the way. In fact, there is a Chevron station at the second stop, as well as a drive-through Starbucks.
The first is at Barnco Bob's house in Placerville: 6317 Longview Dr Placerville..about 3 miles west of 49 and 50 intersection.
The drive starts at 8:30 AM, so be there in time. Maybe if you arrive a little early, Bob will show you his squirrel pelt collection.;-)
Bob will lead the group up highway 49 to the next stop in Auburn: CVS Pharmacy, 10045 Combie Road, Auburn, CA. We'll leave that spot at 10:30 AM and head through the backroads of Grass Valley and onto highway 20, up through Tahoe National Forest.
The third stop will be at Cisco Grove, exit 165 on Interstate 80. We should be there 11:45-12:00. From there we will take historic 40 up and over Donner Summit, through Donner and Truckee and on to route CA-89 into Tahoe City. We will stop in Sunnyside for lunch and should arrive between 1-1:30. There are a couple of restaurants in Sunnyside, both very good. No one takes reservations so this is where the time-frame becomes gray. We'll leave when we're done or whatever.
The ride will continue on 89 through West Shore, past Emerald Bay and on to Stateline, South Lake Tahoe. That takes about an hour. From there we'll drop down highway 50 back to Placerville. figure 1-1/2 hrs.
Some of you will stop there, or continue on to wherever. I will be heading back to the Auburn destination, which is about 1-1/2 hours.
So, you can see it's a full day.
Show up if you want, leave when you want and have a great time.
Feel free to email me with any questions, including lodging recommendations for you outtatowners.
Remember, if you need directions you can Google it ;-)

Terry,

I will certainly be there and Michele will be coming with. I mentioned it to Eric at the IM BBQ and he is thinking about it.

Do you have any idea about the number of participants yet.

Everyone is welcome and it would be really nice to see some of the SF Bay area guys and some SoCal guys come up.

The roads are wonderful and it is hard to beat looking at Lake 'hoe.
It's on.
I have no idea who is participating.
I do know that Andie and I will be there as well as:
John and Pam Leader
Dale and Michele Bates
Warren and Karen White

We will be at the Auburn stop

Barnco Bob, who do you have at the Placerville starting point?

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day with temps in the 80s in Tahoe.
See, its like having a freakin' automatic transmission Dale! The 1.8t with the light weight speedster doesn't seem to lug it just gets a sound like an old Cessna when at 2000 RPM and climbing a hill while accelerating.

You need to do more burnouts though to rid yourself of the pesky tread on the rears. Then you can start in first and spin the tires with less forward progress.

:)

Tomm
We had a great time, Jim.
It was a beautiful day and we logged over two hundred miles.
Bob and Ernie, the muppet twins, never showed but we still had a decent turnout.
Dale & Michele, in their new water-cooled, IM roadster, Warren in his outlaw Beck, John $ Pam in their Boxster, Kim & Rachel in their C coupe, neighbors Scott & Louise in their Z3 and Andie and I in Penny, of course!
At Sunnyside we met up with Antonio and Marie in their beautiful Spyder.
I know some photos were taken and will be posted.
Great friends, great food, great roads. What else could you ask for!
