Hey guys, I have a question regarding the tail lights. In my attempt to build my "street rod" inspired flare I was considering stepping away from the classic tail lights and possibly trying something different (all you classic guys please don't bash me). The classic lights only have one lense so my question is this: Is there only a single bulb (probably an 1157, dual filament)? Or are there two bulbs with separate compartments? I guess what I'm getting at is are there turn signals on the rear end or just running lights and brake? As always, your help is greatly appreciated!

My "Euro" teardrop lights are wired differently. The single filament bulb is on the outside for the directional signals (yellow) and the inner double filament is for the tail and stop lights (red). This creates a problem when brake lights are applied and held for prolonged periods since this is the narrowest part of the plastic lens and therefore the most likely to deform from excessive heat.
I've been playing with the Idea of gragging some leds from Radio sack and some of their circut board stock and just make new bulb pannels with 9 or 11 leds , kinda like the new 57 chevy retro stuff out there.

I was told it was fine now. BUT LIKE YOU . I don't want to get bumped in the rear . I put a 61 beetle front marker lamp on the rear just behind the top painted the lens candy apple red and it matches. my tear drops fairly well.
