Still got my K&E slide rule in it's leather carrying case, complete with belt hook, out in the garage. The Industrial engineers used to carry six inch slide rules - they didn't have to be as accurate as us mechanical types.
If you want a real lesson in mathmatics, go to a "real" Chinese restaurant and watch how fast the waitress can add up your bill on her abacus!

my knuckles are huge 50 years later from the sisters..blues brothers called them the penguins, i still crack up at that.
I used to know a guy with a slide rule about 2 ft. long with a magnifying cursor. He wanted real accuracy.
Well Jack, Alan and Mike, you all get A-'s, everyone missed the LeSalle V-12, Remember Archie Bunker signing about it? Now how many of you were younger than 40?, LOL.

Dinosaur, a Brontosaurus me thinks!
Sinclair Oil company gas stations that had a Dinosaur as the mascot... Sinclair still pumps retail gas in some western states, I even know where a real Sinclair dinosaur still is in storage :)

Come on Al, that Sinclair mascot question is a no-brainer for anyone from NY area and of your, uh, vintage, or perhaps your life experience.
Sinclair sponsored the Dino-land exhibit at the 64-65 NY Worlds Fair. everyone of us kids pestered Mom or Dad for (probably) 50 cents to drop into a machine which poured and molded a plastic brontosaurus right before your eyes. It came out of the vending machine still warm.
I did and still have one. Don't tell me you didn't Al.

Can't say I did ...a genuine Dino does reside in hibernation at

Does anybody remember 78 speed records? I will inherit those someday. Lots of original issue Dorsey and Glen Miller, all good stuff.

Does anyone know Sinclair Oil's HQ city, back in the day (my home town)?

Actually, the last American V-12s were the '48 Lincolns. The LaSalle never had more than an eight ;)
Dany, the 78 rpm original issue Dorsey and Glen Miller are slowly gaining in value
Doh! I stand corrected, LaSalles were 8 cylinder at the most. Sorry, senior moment, lol
