If you're in the market for a Speedster, take a look at these three new beauties that my business partner and I just received from Vintage Speedsters. We're not in the business of buying and selling them. We're just two guys with a passion for the little roadsters, and we decided to have Kirk build three of them for us so we could experiment with various colors and options. We do wish to sell one or two of them.

The Ivory one has a 1600cc motor and the Black and the Red ones have 1915cc motors. All three have dual carbs, front disc brakes, top quality seats and interiors, full tonneau covers, bumper guards, Nardi wood grained steering wheels, AM/FM/CD, carpeted trunks and dual mirrors.

We don't need to make any money on them, but we would like to cover our costs plus the $1,050 shipping that we paid to have them transported in an enclosed carrier to Little Rock. We're asking $19,500 for the Ivory one and $20,500 for the Black and Red ones.

They are brand new. We just received them a couple of weeks ago. None have been titled, so you would receive the original MCO from Vintage. Great deal and you avoid the wait to have one built. Buy now and enjoy the rest of the summer!!!

Steve and John,

I can see how my post might seem a bit unusual and our owning three of them a bit extravagant. Perhaps a little history of how this evolved might help. First of all, the Carpet Barn is our neighbor, not us. We are in the software development business and own a building next to the Carpet Barn on a very busy boulevard. For most of my life I have had the desire to restore a Porsche Speedster or a Karman Gia. Last winter while installing the software at a new client in Hawaii, I had a chance to drive a Speedster replica and I was hooked.

I convinced my business partner to buy one with me, and we ordered two of them from Kirk at Vintage Speedsters. Then, over a beer or two--maybe one too many--we decided to order another, so that we could sell one, make a few bucks, and experiment with different options such as sway bars, wider tires, larger motors, different transmissions, maybe even a different builder. You guys know what it's like wanting to do things differently the second time around. We'll we just shortened the time frame a bit.

Anyway, we applied for an Arkansas car dealor license (not hard to get but the insurance is a bit steep) so that we can avoid registration fees and put a dealor plate on them and have some fun driving them. However, we do want to keep the miles low so that we can sell them and cover our costs.

There's no catch here. These are brand new Vintage Speedsters in perfect condition. You guys know enough about the prices for these vehicles to know that we're not marking them up much at all.

We set them out front this week (see pictures above) and had three parties stop and inquire about them in the first hour. A banker said he almost had a wreck hitting his brakes and doing a u-turn to see them. We quoted him $1,000 more than the posted price above.

Anyway, now as Paul Harvey says, "you know the rest of the story".
Let me know if you want to see more pictures.

Bill
Glad to help, John (lol)

I've kept my wife scratching her head for the past 33 years.
Never been one to do things in moderation.

Steve, I get up to Iowa every year. Have a lot of relatives in my home town, Humboldt. Also many friends in Urbandale where I lived prior to moving to Little Rock. Maybe I'll get a chance to see your IM one of these days.

Bill
