I'll answer here, but it may get more replys in the General section. I'd consider wet sanding it with 1500, and then 2000 grit sand paper. Then take a high speed power buffer and buff it with 3M rubbing compound. Final touch, buff it with 3M microglaze. The 3M liquid rubbing compound, and micro glaze are both about $20-25 each. You will need to rent or buy (harbor freight) the power buffer. Get one that is good for about 2000 RPM. The wax buffers won't really cut it.
Hey Jerry what color is it? If it's an old jell cote finish and it's black ,your best bet would be Block sand A-LOT to get the ripples out of the fiberglass, prime and block sand some more , then paint and block sand some more then clear cote and then block sand some more then buff the H*%$ out of it. It's a long and exspensive process! But it will look Great! or you could sell it to me! and go buy a newer one with good paint! Would you be interested in selling ? let me know!
