I've got a flawless set of Talbot replicas still in the shipping box. The more I look at them the less inclined I am to eventually mount them on the VS.  I'm more inclined to consider my inexpensive 'nameless' pair, that are duplicates of the ones mounted on Merklin's latest build, now that I've seen how well they compliment a semi-outlaw speedster....but what I'd really like to see are the nostalgic memories of the very simplistic, very elegant, very inexpensive mirrors that the pre-war hot rods of my youth sported: These were a short swans neck clamped to the top of the door, bending down with a 4" diameter mirror at eye level. My older cousin's '32 roadster had them clamped to the edge of a two piece Chris Craft speedboat windshield...very elegant....My cousin Don had a very cool set of wheels....it had all the emotional charisma that's now attributed to our replicas....The same buttons get pushed!!!

I just went back to this old post because I'm buying the Talbot repos from Pegasus and powdercoating the front section black.  Kind of like Marty's real Talbots.  I'm also powdercoating the rear portion of my repo Marchal fog lights black.  Kind of like Marty's real Marchals.  Sorry Marty.  I'm a copy cat.

The last post on this thread is from Carl Berry.  He speaks nostalgically about the pre-war mirrors of the 30s.  He states that he has a pair of real Talbots still in their original shipping box.  He's nervous about putting them on his VS.  He should have put them on that VS.

Everyone has real Talbots in heaven.  RIP Carl.
