Ya, di bat-tree needs to be disconnected. cheaper that vey tu!
Umm, how about fuse EVERY circuit? Then you just pull the fuse to whatever you are working on. But in these cars, disconnecting the battery is really the best bet.
It has an inline fuse now! I had about 5 ft of 12g wire draped over everything metal in my front end wiring a new oil cooler fan/thermostat that I put in the front nose of the car. It was late, I was tired, and like an idiot, I connected to the wire I dropped down from the battery before I made my final splice to the fan... You know what happened next. One touch to a ground and I had 5 ft of burning insulation running faster than I could pull it off the various pieces of metal that it was laying on. I'm lucky all I got was watery eyes and a lung full of smoke. As fast as I could grab my wire cutter beside me, I clipped the wire hanging out from the battery box, then started spraying water on all the smoldering bits. I had a spray bottle under the car beside me from when I was welding in the new cooler bracket I fabbed up... Whew! Class A stupid moment.
