Tenax Fastener failure

One of the Tenax fasteners on my 2002 Beck Spyder just flew apart and off my tonneau. I have the lower and upper pieces, but am having trouble getting the two pieces (tonneau material needs to be sandwiched between the pieces) together. Tenax advertises German vs. English and provides inexpensive tools to supposedly attach the fastener to the tonneau material. Do I have German or English, do I need one or more of the special tools to replace the pieces I now have, or is a new fastener in order?

Also, is there a good way to lube the existing fasteners so as to make them easier to pull off the underlying lugs?

Update: I just ordered Tenax fasteners from one of the fastener companies found on Yahoo. Beck uses the English variety. You will need a small tool (they charge a couple of bucks) to hold the bottom plate (the one with the two holes) so that you can screw the top button gizmo onto the bottom plate, with the vinyl material between the two, of course. They also sell the pegs that screw into the fiberglass to which the fastener itself is attached. The rep said that almost anything can be used to lube the fastener to ease removal.
