Anyone organizing a cars and coffee in the Northern, VA area?

I live in Alexandria and need an experienced CMC speedster owner to look over and drive my car—need advice and always willing to listen and learn. Sorry, Carlisle is to far off.

I've been correcting a lot of issues and not sure how my CMC actually should drive and feel on the road. I finally replaced the shift rod bushing (that was toast), coupler, new clutch cable, new throttle cable, trans mounts, and new trans fluid—still not sure if things are set-up right. I'm reaching all gears but there is still a lot of play (even with a Vintage shifter 40% throw). The clutch pedal feels to tight, the gas pedal to loose, my feet rub the top panel covering the steering column—not exactly fun.

Shifting is still a pain, better then before but not enjoyable.

Let me know.

Scott,

Syl M. and I usually go to at least 1 C&C on the weekends if the weather is good. There's one on Saturdays at Great Falls, Katie's starts at 6:00 A.M. (yes, it's crazy there tons of cars thoughand if you don't get there by 6:30 there's usually no good parking left)and one on Sunday at Fast Eddies Fairfax Circle and another better one on Sunday out in Sterling. The Fast Eddies starts at 8 turn out has not been too good there lately as folks are going to the Sterling one.

Syl is a pretty darn good Speedster guy so he may be able to help. PM me and I'll give you my number.

Scott, my first speedster was a cmc. I will tell you first hand it takes a while to dial everything in. First the shifter, there are a few shifters out there but mostly it comes down to two, i would say the stock type which gives you a lot of play or the short quick shift type that is tighter on the throw with less play i like the stock type due to it feeling and looking more original i had both and changed them when i needed something different. Now the clutch pedal feeling tight? it might be binding disconnect it and have someone keep tension on it with a string while you press it to see if it feels tight and have that person listen at the rear for rubbing or metal to metal sound indicating binding. If no binding is felt or heard it might just be someone slapped a heavy duty clutch plate in there that takes a little more umff to push. gas pedal to loose ? which way side to side when u push down? worn out pin at the bottom of pedal   or return spring to weak, it all depends which way its loose? As for your feet hitting the column does not sound right can u post a pic for that one, good luck
