Bought a new Vintage and flying out to test drive it this Thursday and Friday.Hoping all will go well and then shipping it back to Chicago.
Super excited about everything and hoping the weather stays nice and sunny.Currently raining and 39 here in the city.
I have a brother that lives in Long Beach, but he will be working.Looking for some suggestions for a few places to hit while I drive the car around.
Brother lives on a boat and has no garage,so the plan is to return it to Kirk's before he closes, both Thursday and Friday night and park it inside.
I have been on this site everyday for a couple of years and have gained a lot of knowledge by reading the posts.
Even though I have never met any of you,I feel like I know a lot of you and wanted to say thanks for all the advice that is posted in order to help the newbies and fellow members.
With very little VW/Porsche experience,I based my build on what I have read along with Kirk's suggestion.
Thanks,Tom,but all my friends call me Bones

Tom - if I didn't already have another commitment for Friday morning, I'd meet up with you at Vintage for a cruise. Also, Vince is right about the neighborhood where Vintage is located, Hawaiian Gardens. Don't let the name fool you, it's a pretty rough neighborhood and you don't want to be cruising around there or lodging there for the night. I grew up there and know of what I speak.

You should have a pretty good time of it, the weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temps in the 70s on Friday and clear skies 80's temps for Saturday.

Have fun!
Tom and I drove down the coast to Dana Point on his second shakedown cruise before returning to Chicago. The Green Machine will be riding East in a covered wagon sometime
soon. This pic is overlooking the harbor which Richard Henry Dana visited as an ordinary seaman to catch cow hides sailed from the cliffs above. I doubt he would recognize it today. But the views in the deli we stopped at would bring any man to attention. You have to love summer in SoCal. Have a safe trip home Tom.
