I believe my gauge has gone to gauge heaven--all others work fine. Yes I know I should spend the $$$ and do the upgrade but other areas are in need of attention right now. Also the PO laid what looks like walnut on the dash.

I have grounded the wire with ignition on and the gauge did nothing. It seems like it is pegged way down on the left side much further than a normal gauge would start at when not activated. Am I missing something? I did check the wires behind the gauge and the green wire that ties in the other gauges was loose--now it is tight. Could a loose connection shorted out the gauge?

I  swapped out the sender last year and did not use anything on the threads other than oil.

Help??

Remove the existing wires form the gauges to isolate the gauge from a possible in car wiring issue.   Those are imprinted with  " Vintage- Reproduction " on the gauge face... Confirm you are getting 12v at the (L) on the top right of the gauge & confirm a good ground  terminal at  center bottom of the gauge. Then using a small jumper wire... jump gauge (S) sender terminal (left on gauge) to ground, if the gauge is good then the needle will peg to the right.
