Group~
I want to thank everyone for including us in the group and making us feel like we have known you all forever!! We had the best time. Everyone is super funny and friendly.

Special thank you to Nolan for letting us drive his beautiful car on Thursday night and Friday morning. Have a Spyder without a top really sucked but we dealt with it. Your car is da bomb!

I loved seeing everyones beautiful vehicles. It was a real treat to wake up every morning and look out the window and see a parking lot full of Speedsters and Spyders.

It was great to finally meet those that I have talked to online but never in person. Hats off to the crazy guy Rich in his MG.... LOL what a character!! How did the MG gang get involved with this?? they were great!! Thank you to the wonderful man with the Red MG that let us borrow a Tarp for the Spyder. Sorry I forgot your name. YOU saved the weekend.

So many people we met and so little time.....it went by way to fast and I wish we could of spent more time with more of you. We are no longer Carlisle newbies and we plan on coming back again next year. Hopefully we can get some more Spyders to join us.

Thanks again everyone!~~~

You're right Spydergirl, first time for me and my son Willy also and the feelings are similar. Next year I hope to be able to bring my Speedster which should be completed any day now instead of the "odd" 911 as Cory calls it. Dick (the crazy MG/Vermont guy) was quite the tour guide for our two trips out to the boondocks, next year you must join us for a drive, we had a great time with fresh ice cream at a dairy farm. Darcy, was great you and Steve could come and was grand meeting you. Glad you had a good time. Hope y'all come back now, hear? Oh and slip some of that kahlua in your bag! Now Danny Pip has some help on the SpyderClub to rally the troops to get to Carlisle. Now all we gotta do is get you and Angela there at the same time. Look Out!
Later,

Hi Spyder Girl and everyone else who is wondering how those guys with the funny little British cars got involved here.

Here's how the MG gang got involved.

I believe 2011 was the 8th Speedster/Spyder gathering at Carlisle.

In 2003 and several years before that, the few Speedsters and Spyders that came to Carlisle were hosted by the New Jersey Replicar Club. That club was formed in 1991, back when car clubs were in the real world, not the virtual world. Drawing primarily from NJ, but also downstate NY, NYC, Long Island and eastern Pennsylvania, at our peak we had way over 100 members. Not bad for a "physical" club. NJRC's annual pilgrimage to Carlisle would routinely draw 25+ cars.

Of course some of NJRC's members had Speedsters. When the SOC was formed, the few folks that wanted to come to Carlisle joined with the NJRC for our hotel arrangements, dinners, drives, hospitality room etc.

The NRJC died a peaceful death a few years ago.

But one of them, yours truly, still wanted to come to Carlisle with my VW powered MG TD replica. The SOC opened their arms and hotel/dinner/etc. arrangements, sort of paying back the welcome NJRC gave to SOC in the early years.

Dale Schumacher was the only other TD the first couple years. But this year, at one point there were seven TD replicas parked on the field.

The TD group has our own forum at www.tdreplica.com

My hope is that, someday, the TD group grows big enough to challenge SOC for the attendance award! Except I would feel guilty about that and prefer we all register under the SOC banner, to ensure SOC's dominance at Carlisle in years to come.

So there you have it folks.

On behalf of Ed, Wobby aka "Crazy MG Guy", Dale (also a Speedster owner) and all the MG guys and gals....THANK YOU SOC!
Rich, Yes I remember you and the *odd 911* LOL beautiful car!! I heard all about the cruise you all went on and it sounds like we missed a good one. That day we had people coming in from the Spyder club so I didnt really want to leave and miss them. The trip to the farm and the ice cream sounded fantastic! Next year for sure!!

Wild Bill/ Jeff Bridges~ It was wonderful to meet you and hang out!! Yes next year when me and Angela get together its going to be a blast!! watch out!! LOL

Paul, Thank you for the run down on the MGs!! We actually gave Wobby a nickname... remember Animal from the Muppets? LOL Red crazy hair and funny laugh!! same!! LOL Wobby was hilarious!!! My favorite part is on Friday night we were lining up to go on the cruise. He drove up next to me and reached down and grabbed a handful of dirt and small pebbles. He said *Lets throw some dirt on that Spyder, its way to clean* and then he pretended to throw dirt on my car and then laughed and peeled out. I had a Jagerbomb waiting for him on Saturday night but it appears he had to leave early as I did not see him back at the hotel. Saturday at the show I about died when he told me the history of the Disney shirt he was wearing. Loved talking to him and listening to his stories. Hope you all will come back again next year. Who is the the guy with the red MG that loaned me the tarp?? he saved the day!!!

SG

Wow.....getting me all weepy there, Paul.

NO.....Thank YOU, NJRCC, for taking us in for the first few years. THAT got the SOC at Carlisle off the ground and allowed it to morph into what you all enjoyed this year. You guys and gals will be honorary (or onry) SOC folks at Carlisle, fo'evah!

Now, all of you Speedster and Spyder guys and gals: Let's get some local events going all over the country this summer for smaller, local groups. Don't make Dave and Francine Stroud have to drive all over the country again this year to another "REALLY BIG" event!!!!

I'm planning a ride to the "Great Race" in either Bennington or Stratton Mountain, Vermont in early June (more to follow) so let's see what we can get going elsewhere!!!!!!!

Gordon
Living vicarioulsy through other "Speedtah Folks" while banished to New England from my Southern Home (but I snuck some Southern Shrimp and mint julieps with me)
Darcie and Steve, it was great to meet you guys. You really do take excellent care of that Spyder!

I got a decent shot of Rich, as we had breakfast Friday. We went to the Middlesex Diner, and he promptly ordered up a pot of coffee. It took a couple hard blinks for the waitress to comprehend he really HAD meant a pot -- a full pot in addition to a cup -- of Joe.
We had some good conversation that morning. Cool, fun guy.

Cory,
LMFAO at the photo!!! LOLOLOLOL OMG!!! Thanks for the compliment on taking care of Muttley. I know I seem over the top when it comes to detailing/waxing/cleaning/polishing, but the Spyder is my show car and thats how it beats all them there 1932 hot rod kit cars LOL Seriously, I LOVE to detail cars. Just not my daily driver... does that make sense?? Everyone was amazed at the crazy girl (me) up at 6:00 am to find a store that was open in Carlisle that sold rubbing compound to get some of the unremovable yuck from the drive up that had gotten on the paint. Then the same crazy person stood out in the rain to use it and get the stuff off! :)

I was super happy that we won a nice bag full of Meguiars products and a new Chamois at the raffle!! Whoever bought that KNEW I was coming! LOL

It was great to meet you and Theresa. I loved seeing Hoopty for the first time!! Thanks for letting me sit inside and test out the seats. I can tell that thing must be fun to drive!! Did you ever get your new valve covers back on? I felt bad you had worked your butt off in that heat and things didnt go right. Hope we didnt get in your way.

Loved hanging out on Saturday night and hearing the story how you SMOKED the white Targa FOUR TIMES....I forgot the owners name but this is what happened the next morning... Sunday morning when we were loading up the Spyder, the owner came out and saw the beer bottles behind the Targa. I had seen you guys drinking beer the prior night, so I knew some sort of code must of been left with the bottles. I walked over and the owner (whos name I have forgotten) said *Look at all these, do you know about this?* I said I had been outside the night before but I was drinking Patron, not beer. The owner said *This looks like the work of Cory* LOL we spent the next 10 min trying to decode the bottles. We had come up with three different area codes, three birthdates, engine specs and about 10 different acryonyms. I know his wife got a photo and I wish I would have because it was funny!! We should of just looked at it and not gotten tunnel vision, because it plainly showed the number FOUR!! nice one!!

The one thing I wish I could of taken a photo of was the Friday night cruise. One section we drove through was out in the beautiful country. The road was shaped like a sharp *S* we were way in front behind Bruce. I turned around to look and Steve watched through the mirror....it was a site to see all the beautiful cars moving around the *S* turn at the same time. Because of the shape of the *S* cars were facing each other but going forward. I noticed the local farmer and family who lived by the *S* had come out to video tape this. Awesome stuff!!

The raffle was spectacular!! David was sitting to my left and the look on his face when he was called first was priceless. He jumped up and said *OMG I cant believe it, what luck is this!* That was pretty cool EH? :)

For a good laugh and only a few people know about this....I was looking at the prizes and saw someone had donated some items as gift certificates. One item was for a pair of Carbon Fiber Rainhats....I uhh dont know a lot about engine stuff (I am still learning). I didnt know why everyone was getting excited about them, anyone could buy a rainhat at the store HAHAHA I thought they were REAL rainhats..one for the driver and one for the passanger. Aaron White had walked up to me before the raffle and said *Now you just need some rainhats and you will be all set* I told him it had stopped raining and that my baseball hat would do fine.... he looked at me like I was crazy....my husband overheard what I had said and started laughing and told me what they were REALLY for.

The memories of this trip will last a lifetime!! I wish it was already time to do it again!

Dear SG and Steve, Being one of the old dudes who has become a regular at Carlisle (my seventh), I find that a year goes by pretty fast. It will be great when the gang is all together again next May. It was a pleasure meeting you both and seeing your really cool Spyder. I hope to see you again next year. Remember, there is a gathering in the Smokies in September. This is shaping up to be a great event.
Darcy and Steve---glad you made it to Carlisle and that it was "as advertised". Always glad to be with fellow Marines ---Semper Fi!

Your car is gorgeous and it's good to see that more and more Spyders are being added to the group along with more great folks like you!

We hope to see y'all at the Ashville event, you are lucky it's not such a long trip from where you live near J-ville.

Enjoy the Meguars!

Jack,
It was great to meet you and Alice. Yes always nice to meet fellow Marines!! Semper Fi to you as well!! Thanks for the compliment on the Spyder. Your Speedster is also gorgeous! We plan on going to Ashville. It might not look like a long trip from J-ville but it is actually a 7 hour drive. It doesnt matter we WILL be there!!!

I loved your class you gave at the awards dinner. Your gun book was the best part!! I still laugh when I told you I loved your sons shirt that you bought him, it is from one of my favorite movies. When you asked me which movie I about died laughing when you realized it was all over the shirt. :)

So your the person that bought the wonderful Meguars!!! I was dying to try the new polish that they just came out with this year and the new spray wax! It will keep the Spyder looking good through the show season. See you in a few months!!!
I have no idea what she's talking about.
Really. It just wouldn't be a fair fight if I had a redline of two grand higher than Russ had. Where would you get that idea? And on a freeway? Chance in a million I'd use one of those high-rpm chips intended for race day. Me?

Okay. Maybe just for the Carlisle weekend. What's a little old four-banger going to do in a big, scary world where 3.6L Targas are allowed to roam freely? You gotta build some luck for yourself, right? :)

Glad you and Steve made it this year, Darcie. The others on Spyderclub who didn't come will probably never know what they missed! At least Jay and Chas and Eric showed up as well as the usual suspects and all the newbies. It took Lenny a few years to show up, now he is a lock every year like I know you'll be.

The SOC folks have adopted us Spyder guys as well as the MGs, and that is a good thing!

Vince, before you say anything, bite me! You too Gerd! Someday I'll meet yous on the West Coast!
