East Coast Bruce, Dr. Alan and Wild Bill:

What can we really say, other than "Thank You!!"

I've organized big events like this in the past and I know how much hard work goes into making something like this come off well. When everything happens right, well, it just happens, and when it doesn't go well it's the organizers fault. We all know, however, that it takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make it all happen right in the first place.

One thing not mentioned yet, was the terrific turn-out of very high quality items for the raffle. Just goes to show that Speedster/Spyder owners are a generous bunch in many ways!!

Thanks, guys.........terrific, memorable weekend!!

Gordon (and Chris!)
Both halves of "Five Cent Racing"
I just realized my first post didn't thank anybody. I should be ashamed!

Thanks to Bruce Stump for extending an invitation for a non-Speedster owner to join y'all. What a fantastic group of folks!

Thanks to Alan Merklin for driving me around on Friday to the EMMR and the fairgrounds. I never knew they made Speedster pickup trucks, but it had a very nice heater and no rain leaks :-).

Thanks to Henry Reisner, John Steele, and Carey Hines for answering all my inane questions about buying a car from them. Vendors that willing to listen make the purchase decision much easier.

Thanks to $0.05 Racing, Karl, Bill D., Jerome and Kevin, Alan Shapiro, and everybody else for making it such a great time.

I hope next time I'll have a car.
Thanks to Bruce and everyone else involved, even those "Canadians" that gave me such a hard time...(just kidding).

I appreciated all of the encouragement from everyone that pushed me (and many others I'm sure) to come and join in the event this year.

Getting the opportunity to meet everyone and see the great variety of "Speedsters" made it worth it. Now I know who to avoid next time.

Thanks to Hoss, Bruce and all of the others for making me feel welcome.

Now if I could just get rid of my hand cramps from the 700 plus mile drive home yesterday...I must have had a death grip on the steering wheel. Ciao

Yeah, you guys all should have seen the look of utter determination that Carey had on his face when he was racing those Go-Karts Saturday Night!!!!

Everyone on a return trip from last year was out to redeem themselves after losing to Norma Stumpp last year (and she whupped them good last year, too!) so there was a truckload of testosterone riding around out there!!!!!

I personally believe that she woulda whupped them again this year, too, but the starter had two rows of karts to let out onto the track and, even though she was in the pole position, he let her row go out AFTER the other (outside) row had completely gone. I think she should have protested it, but her left seater was "tired" and wanted to get to bed early.......sure........

Just wait til NEXT year..........

What?! I don't THINK so! :)

I started right behind Hot Foot, and still fought my way past the rest of the field. Jerome gave me some trouble with a few wide corners and tailslide blocks, but with Carey and the Canadian duo coming up behind me, I needed to put him away quicker than pork rinds during a Jerome/Kevin Carlisle caravan.

I believe there was mention of a rubber match between Hot Foot and I next year, though. ;)
Something that is important every year is the Speedster Meet souvenir since it helps defray the costs of the meet. Two people were key to this effort.

First, Mike Cochran deserves thanks for his efforts creating several iterations of artwork before coming up with the final designs used on the t-shirts - even though he knew he was not going to make it to Carlisle. He also spent alot of time helping me motivate the guy who originally was going to print the shirts and then did not come through.

Second, with only a week or two to Carlisle Dan McQueen took up the challenge to take Mike's designs and make the shirts a reality, even delivering them in person. He really bailed me out at the last minute and did a fantastic job. The shirts look terrific and were worn by many at Carlisle.

Thanks guys!
