Welcome to the Madness!  Tell us about your new pride and joy- what's it got for an engine (the more details the better), suspension (swingaxle or irs, VW front beam?) brakes- discs or drums, what size wheels/tires, and anything else you can think of.  And yeah, we're gonna need more pics...

PS- where are you?

I am located in Central Pennsylvania (Dover, 17325). My wife and I are both gear heads and we have a small machine shop / car restoration facility on our property. You are all are welcome to stop by anytime. (Follow our shenanigans on YouTube or Facebook as Sky Top Shop.)

The car sits on a late ‘71 IRS pan. It currently has a 1500/1600 single port engine with dual 34 carbs but is otherwise stock.

I plan a total cosmetic and mechanical restoration. I have already replaced all of the suspension which I will detail in another post.

I’ll echo “Welcome to the Madness” as well!

You’ll find this to be a great resource site for info as you work through your restoration.  Many of us on here do all of our own work, and a smaller group have either built their cars or done similar restorations to yours.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions (check the search function, too), and don’t be insulted if we feel that we’ve answered the question and then quickly drift off topic.  Sometimes you learn more from a thread gone wild than the original thread (or at least I try to convince myself of that).  😉

Well, yes, welcome to The Madness  (capital T, capital M) .  And it looks like to me that you are not going to need a whole lot of advice from the cognosci that live and breathe here. Cute sway bar,BTW,  up and over.  Mine just runs underneath all the torsion bar tubes, and as such is in fact the lowest part of the front end stuff.  So far, no problems. I will also assume you will be looking at engine upgrade?  And I love the valve covers -- any idea where they came from?

Your PA location is not far from Carlisle?? I will assume.  I will further assume ( @edsnova ) that our org here will continue its multi-year soiree to the big sports car show there in May.  Details to follow, if you think you will be interested.  Kinda runs from a Wed to Sunday, hanging out at the show field, and cruises to points of interest, and several communal eats.  Speedsters and Spyders ... and a few other hangers on, like MGs. Not too long ago we had about 50 cars I think.
