The 5th Annual Napa Valley 750

In my earlier post, I touched on the smaller rally group. We try to keep the participants at around 25 cars (45-50) each year.
Given the location, food and beverage; it’s understandable where some may believe this is a gathering of the pretentious. However that could not be further from the truth. We seek those that we refer to as the blue Jean and boots crowd. Those that have motor oil in their veins and consider gasoline a scent of cologne.

As with any vintage car rally, we do have break downs. A vast majority of times, the cars are fixed along the roadside using the brainpower of the participants.
For those needing more extensive repairs, we have a trailer that follows. The cars are loaded up and taken back to a local shop, where participants have worked through the night to get the cars back on the road by morning.
The most extensive night time repair to date has to be changing out a radiator in a Dino 246GT. There just so happened to be a radiator that would fit with a little bit of machining and welding. It was a “temp” fix, but allowed the Dino to finish the next 500 rally miles with ease.

Kevin, I would have loved to attend the run this year. But unfortunately plans have already been made and we will be out of town. I loved the variety of cars that attended in your last post in the rain. Hopefully you will do this next year and I will be able to do the event. Best of  luck on the weather.
