It looks like it's actually in LA. It's a little galling that the new owner is flipping the car with a 33% markup over what it sold for in September:

I don't know how much it cost to ship the car to LA from Anchorage but I'd be surprised if it cost anywhere close to $7000. Hell, if I'd had 18k to spare and room for another car I would have seriously considered buying the thing, flying to Anchorage, and ferrying it down to WA using the marine highway or even driving it over the Alcan back to the lower 48, although that would have probably sucked.
Nonetheless, the asking price still doesn't seem outrageous and the seller is open to offers. Plus, there are probably some people on this forum in the LA area who would be perfectly willing to inspect it.
Ah, maybe it still is in L.A., initially I read it to be stuck in Indonesia customs. I had similar thoughts about flying to AK, or just having it put on a slow boat to Seattle etc. But, when I looked into the cost of that kinda stuff it added up real quick. Plus, some of the boat restrictions were difficult. I forget what the numbers were, but it wasn't cheap. Pretty sure he paid $18,000. Whatever, it's still a tantalizing car.
It was in John Steel's shop last week, when I spoke with John.
Well, at least this guy took the initiative to get it to a better seller's market and is trying to make a buck...ya can't fault him for that.
You're right, Rich.
The ones I sent to Europe a few years ago were cosmetically and mechanically refreshed, but they sold in the mid $50K range!!
Correct it's at John's shop..
If somebody is serious about wanting one of these, this is about as good as it's ever going to get. Worrying about what it sold for a month ago is meaningless.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that knowing what a seller paid for something is meaningless when deciding what offer to make, but that's no excuse for my acting like the buy it now price was an affront to common sense in my first comment (not to mention that I was wrong about the dollar amount) and I apologize.
It looks like a good deal and the fact that the car is considerably more accessible for many people is really important. I just really hope someone on the forum buys it so we can see more of it!
Poof, the dream disappeared again...sigh.
You can still buy the sales brochure for $40.99! And dream on it.

Might be better than a Victoria Secrets Catalog as the Envemo might be more obtainable.
