I know that stock valve covers are the best way to go, but I've installed Pauter rockers and I don't think that they will clear my stock VC's. I bought a cheap pair of Empi clip-on's (with bails) but the fit is very poor (VC's can move up and down about an 1/8 of an inch and, of course, they leak. Anyone had really good success with bolt on VC's? As with much of the aftermarket products for VWs, the item looks good and the price is good, but when you try and put it on or look at the quality...bad news.

The weird stud Jake mentions is a 3/8"x24 (fine thread). There will be some exposed threads in the nut that holds the rocker blocks. Cut correct length pieces of threaded 3/8"x24 rod (from your local hardware store or building supply) and install them into the nuts with a dab of blue Lok-Tite; enlarge the holes in the CSP valve covers with a 3/8" drill bit. When you bought the threaded rod you also bought four 3/8"x24 nylock nuts and four S/S 3/8" washers. Use the nuts, washers, and O-rings to install. The covers come with O-rings for the gaskets but we used stock VW valve cover gaskets instead.

My memory may be slipping so check and make sure it's 3/8"x24...
