After doing some more homework, I'm thinking the route to go for me is through Beck. Now, when it comes to engines, is it possible to have Beck assemble the car AND install an engine from CB Performance, such as the 2165 cc engine? I also like the Raby engines, as though look to be high quality too. Does Beck deal with CB and vice versa?

I have a Beck with a CB engine as do others. Carey also works with Raby. I have a stroked 1915 to 2054. I love it.
For a long time CB was Beck's preferred builder. They may still be. You'll have no problem getting the engine you want from the builder you want. Welcome to the Madness!
I have a CB 2332 c.c. in my car, and it's a great engine. Runs smoothly, and pulls like mad.
Thanks for the replies! Bob, I was also thinking of a 2332 engine. I just can't justify getting a small 1600 or 1915 engine after driving Vettes for the past 15 (and still going) years of my life.
This car is a different animal altogether, I'm aware of that, but I'd like to have something in it that can make it have a little pickup if I wanted.
Don't forget that the Speedsters weigh only 1,600-1,700 pounds. It doesn't take much power to really move them down the road!
jack u r funny
dont u have some massive raby engine in yours
Jack's engine is soooo big (how big is it?) that his car's body won't sit all the way down over it. Looks like a bunch of silver pythons under there.
I've got a Speedster with a 2332 that produces about 140 at the wheels and that's ample power, but I got GREAT power with a Subaru in another Speedster build. I used a 2.0 flat four water-pumper with a turbo at 10psi and got over 225 at wheels. Nice thing about that is that I can take it into high RPM's and not be afraid of blowing the motor up. Only sacrifice is knowing it's a tuner based motor, I love air cooled VW and Porsche 'plants.
My Beck has a Raby 1915 and only 126 hp, but I can still light them up in 3rd grear. The low end torque is great and just as fun as driving my Audi A5.
Light them up in 3rd gear....you must have really skinny tires.
My IM had 125 rwhp and I couldn't light up my tires in 2nd gear. (185/65-15, 3.88 R&P))
Speedy723, have you considered going Subaru power. I know Beck installs Subaru power plants. Jake Raby's Subaru power plants are awesome, but the price is not for the weak of heart.
