More pics of the new paint for sure ! ! ! What did that paint job run you? Did you have to do ant pre-prep for them? I know that it was a pretty bare shell, but they did the taping, prime, and the rest? We have a MAACO the next town over, it's looks like I'll have to give them a try . . .
It looks great ! !

The paint came out nice. My body work skills have something to be desired. There are small little areas that should have been done better. I thought I'd done them up right but they tend to show a little more with super shiney paint over them. Nothing that will take away from the car too much. Besides it'll get it's dings and scuffs as the summer rolls along so no biggie.
I'll take a few more tomorrow before I get crackin and then more as I move through the weekend with the interior etc... Then I hope to putting up the last post in the Carrera Project thread and move on to the usual "Help me, I'm an idiot and don't know how to do this....." type threads that are the norm for me.
I'm so close to being done I can't sleep well. All I want to do is drive!!!! It may sound weird but I don't do well not having my car on the road. It's like having a restrictive injury that only allows me to operate at 80%.
TC,
Just got your post - It was $490 total. I did all the prep as far as sanding, body work, taping etc... they covered the engine, wheels, went under and covered the muffler, then they did a pre-prep of the body ($25 incld) which I assume was a quick wipe with acetone or something. Haven't found any drips, hair, specs, etc... and there is little to no over spray anywhere. They did a base coat / clear coat on the dash and did a urethane on the body (same as last time).

Don't be disappointed about the less-than-absolutely-perfect paint job. This way you'll be a little less paranoid about driving it. Looking forward to seeing it.
I have my 10-hole wheels from Carey, painted to match the car. My intention is to have the baby moons, and add trim rings so I don't look like I'm trying to copy your old wheels. I got a set of rings in from Cip1 today and discovered that the beetle rings aren't deep enough. The look nice, but it'd be impossible to keep the rim clean behind them. I should be able to get 15" trim rings just about anywhere, though.

Are you coming to Carlisle, Paul?

Lane,
I will make it up on Saturday for sure. The speedster is out of commission at the moment, but if it is 100% in time for the show id like to drive it up and hang out the entire weekend.

Mickey,
Quit screwin' around and post the pics and measurements that I need.
I now have enough to work with, did you want the adapter to be in brushed/polished aluminum, krinkle or gloss black, or krinkle satin, or gloss Ivory?
What kind of screws are you using to attach the steering wheel? Tradition demands that you use some nice stainless oval heads. Try NOT to align the slots on the heads, that's just TOO fussy.
Do you want me to drill and insert rivets in your wooden steering wheel as well? Did you want holes drilled or slots cut in the aluminum steering wheel spokes? Go full-on vintage Moto-Lita on it?

I can hit the crest on the horn button with a nice shiny new bubble top clear layer for you as well if you want.
Just lemme know . . .

OK, OK, geez, I'm busy ya know!
Been working at a feverish pace. Got all of the exterior stuff on yesterday but had trouble with rewiring everything. I have headlight and tail lights but no brake lights or blinkers, probably a bad ground somewhere. My buddy suggested we put it up on the lift to get easier access to everything but there wasn't any room at the inn so Monday I'll get at that.
Drove it home and last night I got the floor sanded and the gaps sealed up with silicone. This morning I got some of the interior back in and put the first coat or bedliner on the floor. It's raining here and the stuff is taking forever to dry for the second coat so I put a fan on it to speed things up. I should have everything back in by tomorrow.
As far as the steering wheel goes - the spokes are already slotted, but yes, I do want to do the rivets. It'll have to wait until winter time if that's cool.
The adapter would be "appropriate" in gloss ivory I think. The screws are the ones that came with it, black alan heads. I DO like the idea of using stainless oval heads, I look for some and do it up that way. Still toying with horn button ideas.
I promise I'll get those pics to you tonight. I'm gonna try to do the "arrow with measurements on the photo" thing for you.

If you just can't wait 'till Winter, I can send you a black leather wrapped loaner wheel that will fit the adapter. I can put a rush on drilling the holes/inserting the rivets on your wheel for a quick turn around.
When you decide on the horn button, talk to me. I might be able to help you out with something special.

The carpet was a bit of task but it's in and good enough for my skill set. I actually kinda like the black trim. I originally was thinking about a grey to match the carpet but I thought the black trim would accent the black seats, dash, and door panels.
I'm diggin my camouflage job on the diagonal bars I put in. You can barely see them!
Tomorrow is a continued effort to find the wiring bugs and putting on the bumpers and a few little odds and ends. Then it's time to drive.............. :)
You don't get to see the whole deal until I do the wheels. I know, I know the suspense is killin ya.
