Greg, I get the impression that you are spoiling for a fight as evidenced by your belligerent attitude. I've been on this website, and its earlier iteration, for quite a spell. My experience is that people that write posts like yours usually don't hang around very long. Although it is certainly your right to speak your mind, within reason, I think you will not make any friends here if you don't take a different approach. You will find that we are a very open and welcoming group provided that you behave yourself.
I haven't read this string for a long time and now that I do I see it has degenerated into what most strings seem too, that of name calling, mud slingin, etc. (you'd think it was politics we're discussing here instead of Speedies) It seems that if a string lasts long enough eventually someone, somewhere just has to post some reply that seems clearly aimed at stirring up $hit. Why is that?

What ever happened to if you can't say something nice about someone then just keep your mouth shut? Especially if its none of your business.

(however, I have enjoyed some of DS comments and strings...)
It starts off with a couple of folks obviously proud of what they are getting/building and they are willing to share with the rest of us. Then eventually gets to name calling and some other personal crap ....

Gerd, I don't have time to drink several beers and read this thread from the beginnging (I'd probably fall asleep before I finished it after several beers too) so maybe you can give me the Cole's Notes version of how it got from the start to now? Someone must have said somewhere that someone else's Grandma wears army boots or some such thing and prompted the repsonses I've read near the end of this...
Rich---it's really not a problem. It is a very long thread and has gone for almost 6 months with over 350 posts. When you consider how many interested fokls have posted positive and supportve comments vs the very few buttheads it's actually like 99% positive---much better than most threads on the SOC site.

Jake totally predicted that certain people would abuse the thread and frankly that was a hurdle I had in talking Jake into participating.
I have to admit that he was correct and I guess I overestimated human nature. Really for about the first 300 posts only "Forum Prick" had an abrasive comment that Jake responded to in a fashion that I thought was humerous--it's way back in the thread.

The goober from Africa is a sterling example of why Africa is commonly referred to as the "dark continent" which has nothing to do with flesh tones. Not racist--just pointing out my reaction to the troll who appeared here from there.

The project is really over. The only remaining thing is the reams of documentation Jake does on each build and I hope to have that tomorrow. I have enjoyed being part of this but it looks to be at the end of the project and being a productive thread any longer.

I have made my feelings of complete satisfaction clear here and maybe I'll ask Theron to lock this thread ---maybe at the point several posts above where it started to disintergrate.

I wouldn't call the thread sad---just a couple of sad individuals with not much of a life.
For the life of me I cannot see why Greg even has a valid thought or comment. The only person Jake needed to be happy was his customer whom is CLEARLY happy with the build, service and installation.

Jake you showed quite a lot of restraint. The Marines taught you well. If I ever have the need of a bad ass Type 4 you will get my business.
"Jake, clearly I have pissed on your battery."

Actually you pissed in my corn flakes.

And now you can kiss my American ASS!

How dare you disrespect my Father by making off the wall, inaccurate assumptions.

BTW- You don't know what Marines think because you never earned the title and you don't rate an opinion. (Jack and I have, we are brothers till death)

My client is pleased. His expectations have been exceeded. Last time I checked thats all that matters.

Wet blankets smell just like an asshole when they sour.

If you have further issues with me or my timelines or comments feel free to engage in the most colorful and explosive phone conversation you'll ever experience by calling my desk at 706.219.4874
I'll be standing by.
WELL JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH JAKE AND HAD A NICE CONVERSATION.

BY THE WAY

GREG
FOCK OFF
I WORK WITH MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN IN OUR MILITARY AND DEATH IS NOT SOMETHING THAT THEY COME TO TERMS WITH.

ALSO WHERE IN THIS THREAD IS THERE A 7 MONTH BUILD AS GREG STATES.
THIS IS ANOTHER POST TO DAMAGE A WORKING INDIVIDUAL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS GROUP BY SOMEONE WHO HAD NO WORK DONE BY THE INDIVIDUAL. ITS FOCKEN INCREDIBLE. I WOULD HAVE MY FOOT UP SOMEONES ASS SO FAR IF THEY TRIED TO DISCREDIT MY BUSINESS.

I DONT KNOW WHO IS WORSE
GREG OR DMS WITH HIS MORON COMMENTS

Jake, Jack, fellow owners and enthusiasts, Please accept my apology, What started of as my opinion has degenerated into blatant name calling and xenophobic comments which are totally un-appropriate for this sort of forum.

Jake, what can I say, perhaps I was looking for a fight and I suppose someone a million miles away was a safe bet. I hope my comments have not influenced any prospective client. If I wasn
I have follwed this ENTIRE thread and its intended purpose with unexpected interest and relish. Jake, Jack: all I can say is thanks for sharing. I have learned a lot, and I am so pleased for Jack, who by the way is a class act from start to finish, a true gentleman. And such a sweet ride he has, made all the better by a very cool motor that will make his knuckles white and truly mess up his hair. Way to go Jack!!!! As to wet balnkets and all that jazz, I have some advice for all: ignore them, they will go away. Just shake your head and skip over the rants. This applies to those who can't ignore, and then choose to rise to the bait, and only inflame. Just let it go.
Kelly---good advice and thanks for you sentiments too. This entire project is now over and what a joy it was from start to finish. Jake is one of a kind and a perfectionist and I am the beneficiary of that care and concern he lavishes on everything he touches.

From reading I knew that heads should be retorqued after a certain mileage and when I asked Jake about torquing specs he said not to bother , that he had already done it! Everything in the project was like that.

The only thing unreported on the project is the multi-page notebook he sent me with every spec of every part of the engine. Make and model number of all the parts in the engine and accesories, dyno graphs, settings, care, tuneup specs, even what jets and emulson tubes were in the carbs! Oh--the color of the DTM is Porsche seal gray. Such detail.

I can't recommend Jake enough and regard him as a great engine builder and a friend.
Thanks Jack.

You are too one of a kind. Through all of the challenges the car presented and through the darkest days I have ever experienced with the loss of my Father you were patient, flexible and respectful.

I never mind going even further above and beyond for those who appreciate it and understand the hardships that can occur over the period of time that a project like this takes to complete.

Jack is a class act- I wish everyone was like him.
